Sumi e Painting Progress

I continue to enjoy my study and practice of both the arts of Sumi e Chinese brush stroke painting as well as Japanese calligraphy or "shodo." I am finding sumi e to be much more freely expressive, whereas calligraphy, like many other Japanese practices, is extremely precise and detailed and seems to require much more patience with myself.

I have learned that normally, one must become proficient in calligraphy before even taking sumi e because that is where you learn the proper brush techniques and strokes. So I am even more fortunate to be learning sumi e without experience in calligraphy. Below is some of my work from my third lesson.
